    Lean-To Conservatory Prices

In all walks of life, trends come and go through the years, and home improvements are certainly a good example of this. Homeowners want to keep up with the Joneses, getting the most out of their property, boosting its kerb appeal, and making it as comfortable to live in as it is impressive to look at.

Consistently, conservatories have been a sure-fire way to make the most out of any property. They’re an attractive, versatile, extended living space, which homeowners can use in a variety of ways. From relaxing retreats to children’s playrooms; or sophisticated dining areas to classy guest bedrooms – the possibilities are endless.

Here at Conservatory Online Prices, we keep our fingers on the pulse of the latest developments in the world of conservatories, helping to keep you up to date on the latest news and developments, so you can stay informed about your home improvement plans.

One of the main questions we get asked is – just how popular are conservatories? To answer this, we’ve collated lots of data on search interest levels directly from Google, taking a look at how many people search for conservatories as a topic in the top 10 countries. And the answer to how popular they are – and where they are most popular – might just surprise you!

    conservatory popularity across the world

    Conservatory Search Data

To create our results, we’ve extrapolated data from as far back at 2004 and taken the weekly data of conservatory interest levels over time. For every seven days, we have an average figure out of 100 – with 100 being the most popular that “conservatories” as a search term has ever been.

From this, we looked at the top 10 countries. These include the United Kingdom, Australia, United States and Canada. Seeing the data sets for each country lined up against each other over time lets us see some interesting insights about changing search levels over time.

But enough build-up – just below, we have the data itself. Take a look for yourself and see how interest levels fluctuate over time. You can see how some countries have stayed consistently as some of the top searches, while others come and go over the years as conservatories change in popularity – perhaps with other options like garden rooms, summerhouses or extensions overtaking them.

    Insights – Lockdown Levels

You might notice some spikes in interest levels in certain years. Perhaps you saw the sharp growth in mid-2019? We can all remember what was happening in the world then. With more people spending time at home (since they didn’t have a choice and couldn’t really go anywhere else!) homeowners were increasingly looking at home improvements.

Conservatories soared in popularity at this time, with people searching online for ways to expand their homes. Classic conservatories are great for this, giving you a brand new space to enjoy in any way you want. In the UK particularly, searches for conservatories rose to their highest ever levels!

In this time, we know that homeowners carried out lots of research to find out which type of conservatory they want. Lockdown saw customers become far more informed (with the time to do plenty of Googling). The graph reflects searches for “conservatory” as a topic, not just the specific keyword – including Victorian, Edwardian, Lean-To, bespoke options and much more.

    Insights – Seasonality

It’s also worth bearing in mind the other factors that will affect the data on the graph – not only lockdowns and pandemics but, pre-2019, seasonality. As the warmer weather approaches, people will naturally want to open up their homes and have more space to enjoy. In winter, they might be less likely to invest, since it can be difficult enough to heat your house as it is without adding an extra room.

This is demonstrated in the data with different countries included. Oftentimes, when searches in the UK are lower, they are conversely higher in Australia, since they have opposite seasons.

It’s interesting to see how during lockdown and post-Covid, search interest levels very much defy seasonality. All throughout the year of the pandemic, people’s searches defied trends. Whether summer, autumn or winter, heatwaves or heavy rainstorms, homeowners were looking at how to improve their property since they have spent so much time there recently!

    Conclusions

Overall, the data we’ve compiled here helps to give a good look at how the changing of the seasons affects homeowners’ browsing habits – but also, how all of this can change when something like a pandemic comes along!

By country, the United States’ love affair with conservatories seems to have ended a few years, while Australia and the UK’s commitment to the conservatory has remained pretty consistent and looks set to continue.

What are your thoughts on our findings? Are you surprised by the 10 countries where conservatories are most popular, according to search trends? Were you expecting some countries to be higher and others to be lower? Let us know what you think.
